First Friends will remain OPEN on May 11th to bring awareness to the importance of childcare in our community. Throughout the day, we will be highlighting what childcare providers truly do- from Early education and care to supporting working families and the local economy. We will be engaging families in conversations, sharing real experiences, and giving a behind-the-scenes look at a full day in childcare. We will be conducting family interviews, making social media awareness posts, and celebrating children and the role childcare plays in their lives. We plan to involve our local childcare coalition, community members, and other providers.

This May 11, WEPOWER is leading the charge in St. Louis as we join the National Day Without Child Care. We are part of a massive, nationwide movement organized by Community Change Action’s Childcare Changemakers to prove that our economy cannot function without us.
On May 11, we demand:
Universal child care for every child and family
Thriving wages for early childhood educators
A childcare system built on racial and gender equity
We aren’t just closing our doors; we’re opening eyes. We invite St. Louis providers to stand in solidarity—close your program for the day, join us on the streets to demand the thriving wages and equity you deserve, and then head to the roof at Trust to celebrate your power! We’re turning up the volume with a live DJ, drinks, and the best views in the city. You’ve earned this moment to dance and recharge—see you on the rooftop.
