Child Care for NC: A Day of Action

This is our collective statewide action in support of the larger Day Without Child Care. The Child Care for NC coalition (CC4NC) is bringing providers, parents, child care advocates, and community supporters from across NC together May 16 for a day of action to demand our leaders solve the child care crisis. It will cost less than 1% of the total state budget. If members of the NC general assembly don't act before a funding cliff in June, 1/3 of child care centers across the state are expected to close.
As providers, parents, and business owners, we know it's a big ask to close a center or a classroom for a day. But we are closing for ONE DAY so we don't have to close centers, family child care homes, and classrooms forever in the coming months. This walk will shine a light on the childcare crisis and the needed funding for programs in North Carolina.

Wisconsin Early Childhood Action Needed (WECAN) is organizing a statewide rally for child care investment on the steps of our capitol building in Madison on Saturday, May 18th (2-4:30 pm). Following and building upon the momentum of the actions on “ A Day without Child Care" this rally will raise public awareness of our child care crisis and the ways the current system harms children, families, businesses, and our economic prosperity. We will elevate the voices of parents, educators, business owners, elected officials, and community members sharing their daily challenges, experiences, hopes, and dreams for a just early childhood system. This family friendly event will culminate with a march around the capitol.
